Discussion This study provides novel insights into the stage-specific expression dynamics of the tumor suppressor proteins p53 and p63 in chemically-induced skin carcinogenesis. A comprehensive immunohistochemical evaluation of 459 biopsies from a well-controlled murine model was conducted to ascertain the expression of p53. The results obtained demonstrated that p53 expression was significantly elevated in precancerous and benign lesions, but not in malignant tumors.
