Having begun my journalistic career in 1972 as Youth Correspondent in All India Radio, I joined Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency in 1976 having completed my Masters in History from Delhi University in 1974.
I worked in PTI till 2005 during which period I covered major events ranging from 1982 Asian Games, 1984 Non-aligned nations Summit and Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit in New Delhi. From 1984 to 1985 I was in Kuala Lumpur as part of the PTI to help Malaysian news agency Bernama launch their Foreign News Service.
Since 1987 I was member of the Delhi Bureau of PTI and began covering Parliament and politics for the news agency.
From 2005 to 2008 I was Delhi Bureau Chief of Bengaluru English daily "Vijay Times" and than joined "The Statesman" English news daily in Delhi in 2008 where I worked till I retired in 2019.
Currently I am Consulting Editor for Quarterly Defence and Foreign Affairs magazine "Raksha Anirveda," and also contribute to website Citizen Matters from Bengaluru, Uday India, a weekly magazine and Poreg, a website on foreign affairs.
Besides, I have also been participating in TV discussions as Senior Journalist and Political Analyst.
