A California Highway Patrol vehicle on Highway 101. The California Highway Patrol responded to two separate fatal crashes the afternoon of June 27 on northbound Highway 101 in the Conejo Valley. The first crash was reported around 1:40 p.m. near Lynn Road in Thousand Oaks, said CHP Officer Ryan Ayers. The driver, a 68-year-old Newbury Park man, is believed to have had a medical emergency, Ayers said.

Man rescued after threatening to jump from 101 overpass in Oxnard

The Highway 101 bridge over the Santa Clara River, seen in 2022, stands at the boundary between Oxnard and Ventura. Authorities rescued a man who who threatened to jump from the overpass to Highway 101 at Oxnard Boulevard June 22. Callers began to report the man "straddling the overpass" around 8 a.m., and officers from the Oxnard Police Department went out to the scene, said Sgt. Mike Wood. He was unsure if Oxnard police or the California Highway Patrol would be overseeing the incident.
