RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A bill named for a Goldsboro teenage murder victim is one step closer to expanding the prosecution of gang-related crimes. The state’s House of Representatives voted 110-3 to pass Jaleeyah’s Law (HB 1173) on Wednesday afternoon during the General Assembly. The bill is named after Jaleeyah “Lee Lee” Tune, the 13-year-old who was murdered close to Christmas Day by three teenagers who prosecutors said had gang ties in Goldsboro.

Voting inside the General Assembly at the NC Capitol (Shabnam Danesh/CBS 17) RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A busy day Wednesday for North Carolina lawmakers has led to one very important vote at the General Assembly. The North House of Representatives voted 71-41 to pass the property tax moratorium bill (SB 889), which would pause any increases in property taxes for one year. CBS 17 previously reported the North Carolina Senate approved the bill five days ago.
