BEND, Ore. -- Fireworks rules vary widely across Central Oregon this Fourth of July — and with extreme fire danger already gripping the region, officials are urging residents to know the law before they light anything up. In 2025, Redmond city leaders approved the use of fireworks within city limits only on the 4th of July. They are banned the rest of the year. Bend, Sisters, and Sunriver have a total ban on all fireworks.

MADRAS, Ore. -- Jefferson County leaders are sounding the alarm over repeated short-term power outages. They say the outages are causing financial impacts on local farmers and the community. Power being cut is due to something called de-energized trips and it is a fire safety initiative by PacifiCorp, the parent company of Pacific Power. PacifiCorp insists fire prevention is top of mind, but people living in Madras are tired of losing power on a regular basis.
