Interview
What was your first job as a journalist?
Working with TechCrunch, as their startups and hardware reviews reporter. However, LaptopMemo was how I started reporting.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
No, but I'd like to.
How is social media changing news?
It's decentralizing where "breaking news" comes from. If you've got your sourcing right, you can "break news" anywhere, at any time.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Peter Parker.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Via email.
What's your favorite social network?
None. They're all just tools and none of them are truly exceptional in 2026.
Who do you wish followed you?
Tinashe. Also, a future business/startup partner here in SoCal.
Why did you become a journalist?
To get the answers I wanted about technology and to gain access.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
"Teens and Technology Share A Future". Licensed by Pearson Publishing in textbooks around the world. Originally published in HuffPost.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime I'm awake.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I'll save them the embarrassment here.
What's your favorite drink?
A "Dubai Refresher" from Delah Coffee.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Walking with Athena (dog), playing tennis, or making sure Martini (cat) isn't sleeping on my desktop's air vents.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
None. I aggregate it all on Techmeme.
