Since the beginning of July, 142 people have been taken into custody in connection with the various wildfires that have erupted across France. PARIS—The wildfire sweeping through the pine forests of southwest France became so ferocious last week that it created its own weather system, generating thunderstorm clouds that hurled lightning to the ground and ignited fresh fires beyond the fire line, French authorities said.

The newer, revised Russia sanctions legislation was introduced on July 16 with more than 60 bipartisan cosponsors. President Donald Trump on Sunday called on lawmakers to add Iran to a Russia sanctions bill that was originally introduced by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). “That’s what Lindsey wanted to do, and it was going to happen. IMPORTANT!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. Trump did not elaborate on how he would modify the bill or specify the sanctions he wants added.
