Have you ever used a typewriter?

I have actually. For my birthday when I was in middle school, my parents got me a brand-new Royal manual typewriter as a show of support.

How is social media changing news?

It's bringing snippet headlines to more people. It's enforcing echo-chambers, which is making journalists have to adapt and get creative.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

WordPress, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Canon Rebel T4i, Tascam DR-07MK2, Twitter.

Why did you become a journalist?

I always felt drawn to creating works of writing and storytelling. Journalism is an intersection between my loves of writing and of learning.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Take time to figure out your own journalism ethics, which can steer you towards the outlets you want to work for.
