At 7 p.m. on May 2 the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront will serve as the venue for the annual gala hosted by Coppin State University. Last year’s ball focused on 125 years of transformation, celebrating milestones for unwavering commitment to education, innovation and community impact. Reflecting on the university’s legacy of 126 years, this year’s event promises a sophisticated atmosphere and immersive experience, honoring deep-rooted cultural and historical traditions through a celebratory lens.

Later this year, I will open Marula Wellness, a cannabis dispensary and holistic health brand in Frederick, Md. Cannabis has been on my radar since Maryland legalized the medical use of this plant in 2014. At that time, a national company hoping to get a license to open a dispensary reached out to me requesting my support in their effort. I was hesitant at first to give them a “letter of support” for various reasons.
