What was your first job as a journalist?
With EE Tech Media and Marketing writing news on the latest technology advancements.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I used a typewriter when I was little. It had a certain satisfying feeling. The rhythmic punch of letters and numbers was thrilling.
How is social media changing news?
It is providing a space for fake news and can lead to misinformation. I believe that it should be better regulated to provide integrity.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
It must be Tintin. Traveling the world and uncovering mysteries is the way to go. I see my adventurous spirit in this character.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means understanding that there is a nobility in telling a story that can touch and inform many people across the globe.

Concise and brief pitch ideas are welcome with good resource coverage.

Why did you become a journalist?
I enjoy translating complex information and making it understandable to a variety of audiences. I derive great satisfaction in this.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did not.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I wrote an article on an expedition to Oman to survey plant flora. I was the lead plant specimen collector and wrote about the trips success.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Take initiative and be proactive in searching for news topics. Believe in your ideas and eye for a good story. Hussle and be persistent.

In the morning between 9am to 11am

A pitch concerning the use of plant fibers to generate battery cell technology.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I have not yet received one.
What's your favorite drink?
rooibos tea
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In the garden, touching the Earth and getting in amongst the plants. I love growing and being amongst nature.

Nature Research
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
My beat is diverse and usually, it is assumed that different beats cannot link. Science and art for instance, definitely come together well.
