Understanding hperemesis gravidarum
Morning sickness is a common condition affecting many people early in their pregnancy and is generally harmless. A small percentage of pregnant women may experience an extreme form of morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum (HG). Morning sickness and hyperemesis gravidarum are very different conditions including different complications and treatment. Morning sickness typically includes mild nausea that’s sometimes accompanied by vomiting.

Bustling crowds marched along the cobblestones of Olvera Streetin Los Angeles to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican American holiday that commemorates the 19th-century Mexican victory in the Battle of Puebla against French soldiers. Olvera Street offers rich insights into the history of what some consider to be “the birthplace of Los Angeles.” Singer Jorge Felino performed on the plaza at the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument on Cinco de Mayo.

The Orange Coast College Speech and Debate team's return to Orange County was filled with fanfare in celebration of the college's 13th Phi Rho Pi National Championship. On Sunday, faculty, family and friends awaited the team with signs and balloons for the team's return to John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana. The team continued the celebration on Tuesday with an on-campus rally in the Literature, Languages and Social Sciences Building.
'Let me tell you a story': Alters returns to where it all began
Brian Alters walked into his first college class in 1975 and took his assigned seat in the third row in the Science Hall at Orange Coast College. On the screen was a projection of a globe as a nod to the subject that would be taught that semester: Marine Science 100. After weeks of unusually wet weather, the Southern California sun welcomed the Costa Mesa community for the first of two Fridays of April for the annual Spring Plant Sale at Orange Coast College. For over 25 years the Horticulture Department has hosted this event as staff, students and neighbors choose from a variety of plants from student projects, both grown from seed and propagated from local vendor donations.

OCC Forensics wins state championship tournament
Orange Coast College’s Speech, Debate and Theatre Team won the California Community College Forensics Association’s 2023 State Championship on March 12. The team won by 70 points over the other 19 competitors from schools across the state. “The 15 students that were sent to state as representatives of Orange Coast College did exactly what we needed them to do,” Director of Forensics Shauhin Davari said.
