Anthropic overtakes OpenAI, but these CIOs aren't chasing the leaderboard

Anthropic captured the lead in U.S. enterprise AI adoption, securing 34.4% of the market compared to OpenAI's 32.3%, according to Ramp 2026 AI Index in May. Among businesses adopting AI for the first time, Anthropic is winning roughly 70% of head-to-head matchups. "Anthropic won early with the people who were already trying AI inside companies," said Ara Kharazian, lead economist at Ramp.
