City College students attended Active Minds‘ mental health awareness event featuring speaker Abraham Sculley. Topics of discussion included mental health hardships, growing from past struggles and when to seek help. Sculley, who suffers from depression, anxiety and isolation, shared stories from his past and recovery during the presentation. He emphasized the importance of normalizing conversations about mental health. “What I feel is a sense of responsibility,” Sculley said.

The annual Big Band Blowout concert by City College’s Music Department celebrated the life of jazz instructor Charles “Chuck” Wood, who worked for over 32 years at City College. The concert featured all three of City College’s bands and was hosted at the Garvin Theatre as both a celebration of the semester’s end and a tribute to Wood, who arrived at City College in 1988 and helped develop the college’s jazz classes.
