It's not every day that you hear positive remarks about former Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock, but an Edmonton Oilers superstar is clearly excited to be coached by him. There's no denying that Babcock helped the development of the Leafs as he took a last-place team to the playoffs in one year, but at what cost? With mind-tricks and a true hatability, Babcock does not seem like a guy that many players would want on their side every night.

After missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade last year, it's hard to remember that the Toronto Maple Leafs are actually a great franchise, but they are. This may be a hot take, but everyone should be viewing the 2025-26 season as the "Year from Hell" and something we won't see anytime soon. The team had a terrible general manager, a coach who didn't know how to create offense and everyone got hurt.

The Toronto Maple Leafs would be smart to sign Patrik Laine to a professional try-out (PTO), as the 28-year-old still has a lot to prove. It wasn't that long ago that there was a real debate between Auston Matthews and Laine. The year was 2016 and the Leafs had just won the NHL Draft Lottery.
