Stephen Ssenkaaba’s Biography
I am a Communication and Media Studies PhD student at the University of Oregon, USA, I am interested in studying African indigenous storytelling and its influence of how journalists report news in a digitized environment. Fore more than 10 years, I worked as a features writer, contributing editor and online writer at The New Vision newspaper in Uganda, which is now part of the Vision Group multimedia company. I also was a part time assistant lecturer of journalism at Uganda Christian University. I was a 2019 Knight Wallace Journalism Research Fellow at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA, researching inclusive online strategies for emerging news markets. I hold a Master’s degree in International Journalism with Distinction from Leeds University.
I have won several national journalism awards, a couple of international media awards and honorable mentions over my media career. My work has featured in all Vision Group media platforms. I have also had my work published in the United Nations Africa Renewal Magazine.
