Admittedly I was visiting this very quaint spot mid-morning on a Monday which is never going to help matters. But, at the same time, I couldn't help feeling that somewhere as scenic as this would be overflowing with visitors if it was located in the Lake District or in the heart of some other major tourist area. For those who haven't been before, Old Ollerton, which is located about 10 miles to the east of Mansfield, refers to the original village clustered around the church, river and mill.

Talented Alexandra, who runs art classes in Southwell, Ravenshead, Newstead and Nottingham, landed the prestigious accolade during a guest appearance on the show's episode in Whitby on 22nd June. During the nerve-wracking appearance Alexandra, who is also a Fellow of the Nottingham Society of Artists, was tasked with capturing the essence of the popular Yorkshire seaside town through her art.

In many cases that dedication to the cause is carried out by volunteers and charities who willingly give up their time and effort for the area that they love. That's very much the case over in Pleasley where one group of kind-hearted locals are doing their pit for the former coal village. They are volunteers at the Pleasley Pit Trust, which is based at the former colliery site, and work across a number of areas such as the fascinating Heritage Museum, visitor centre and the cafe.
