Routehappy Partners with Expedia, Helps Improve Passenger Experience - NYCAviation
A little more than a year ago, I swapped my NYCAviation editor hat for a new hat at a travel startup called Routehappy.com. Since then, the team at Routehappy has been working day in and day out to help passengers find the happiest flights on a global scale. Today, I want to share the company’s next big step that we believe will help every passenger find the best possible experience, every time. I think you’ll love it.
#SelfieSunday with Denise Lockie, Miracle on the Hudson Survivor - NYCAviation
My love of travel and flying started at any early age, flying from DTW to LGA. When experiencing delays began the adrenalin rush, I knew flying was for me. I loved to watch the people boarding, dressed to the nines and wondering where they were traveling. My best friend in grade school’s sister started working for American Airlines after she graduated from college. It was her career for several decades, and she always had the most fascinating stories.
Five Years Later, Still a Miracle
It’s hard to believe that today marks the five-year anniversary of the “Miracle on the Hudson” flight. It was on this day that Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger and his First Officer, Jeffrey Skiles operating flight 1549, an A320 (registration N106US) from New York’s LaGuardia bound for Seattle via Charlotte struck a flock of birds approximately 100 seconds after lifting off from runway 4.
FAA to Allow Use of Personal Electronic Devices Below 10,000 Feet - NYCAviation
“Ladies and gentleman, we have now closed the main cabin door and we ask that you now power down any electronic devices” …may soon become a thing of the past! Earlier this morning, the FAA’s Personal Electronic Devices Aviation Rulemaking Committee (PED ARC) announced that they are recommending for the FAA to allow airlines the ability to expand passenger usage of electronic devices below 10,000 feet.
JetBlue Unveils A320 Honoring the FDNY - NYCAviation
In the wee hours of the morning at 1:55 AM MDT (3:55 AM, here on the east coast), JetBlue 6411 quietly took off from Roswell International Air Center (KROW) in New Mexico bound for New York’s JFK. However, there were no revenue customers on this late night flight. After months of eager anticipation, the 8-year old Mosaic-finned A320 aircraft formerly known as “I Love Blue” (tail N615JB) got a fresh coat of paint.
Copa Airlines Frank Gehry Biomuseo 737-800
Were architect Frank Gehry ever to design an aircraft, it probably wouldn’t fly very far, given the crazy angles and a general aversion to symmetry found in his buildings. (Even Gehry’s aircraft-inspired chair would have trouble leaving the ground) Thankfully, Copa Airlines didn’t seek his inspiration for the shape of their newest Boeing 737, just the paint job.
AirTran Unveils Dolphin-Covered Jet Celebrating Partnership with Georgia Aquarium - NYCAviation
AirTran Airways has unveiled a Boeing 737-700 (N289AT) adorned with large dolphins painted on the fuselage and engines in honor of the airline’s longtime support of the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. The jet, dubbed Dolphin 1 also publicizes the aquarium’s newest attraction, the AT&T Dolphin Tales gallery and theater. Georgia Aquarium’s new $110 million dolphin exhibit features a 1.8 million gallon habitat featuring bottlenose dolphins.
