ORLANDO, Fla. - July 27, 2026 - PRLog -- The book sets out to trace the money and personnel behind several recent Republican political operations, from state-level campaign financing to White House staffing and lobbying arrangements. Rather than centering on any single figure, Farley says the book focuses on the network of donors, operatives and consultants he argues have shaped outcomes behind the scenes.
The Carpetbagger Hires a Carpetbagger
Jay Collins built his entire residency lawsuit against James Fishback on a single argument: that a man who actually lives in Florida should not be allowed to run for governor unless the paperwork agrees with him first. It is a fitting argument for Collins to make, because when his own campaign needed a lawyer to carry that argument into a Leon County courtroom, his team could not find one in Florida willing or able to sign the complaint alone. They had to import one.
Local opinion: Paramount-Warner deal could unleash the film future Tucson deserves
The following is the opinion and analysis of the writer: We Tucsonans love movies. It’s so much more than hanging out in an air-conditioned public space for a couple of hours — films really matter to us. It’s why we love to boast about The Loft, the best independent movie theater in the world. It’s why we support not just one but two successful international film festivals each year. We don’t just love watching movies; we love creating them too.
Local opinion: How a grassroots movement brought forth Tucson’s Modern Streetcar
The following is the opinion and analysis of the writers: A small group of committed people can indeed create change. It may take decades, but it can happen and did happen here in the case of our streetcar. It happened because that small group grew to a large and diverse group throughout the region. Ultimately, it takes all of us. Here is our story.
Big meets lead to bigger performances as Worcester Tech track and field teams poised to shine
Steve Farley Correspondent Although co-coaches Gerry Snay and John Nicol do not focus on wins, the Worcester Tech boys’ and girls’ squads are both 6-1 heading into Saturday’s District E Division 1 championships. “We focus on moving our athletes around to find the best combinations of events to showcase each athlete and to help the team overall come championship time,” said Snay, who is in his 13th season coaching outdoor track for the Eagles. Snay said the Eagles have a lengthy to-do list.
Strong senior class has Millbury boys' track in contention for SWCL title
Steve Farley Correspondent The Millbury boys are 3-0 with wins over SWCL rivals David Prouty, Oxford, and Quaboag. The Woolies travel to Northbridge on Monday afternoon to face the Rams and Auburn in a tri-meet. “We’ve had a lot of past success,” eighth-year coach Peter Gleason said. “I don’t think we’re as strong as we used to be. We have flashes. We don’t have the depth that we’ve had. I think we’re still a strong program. We’re not quite there, but we have solid athletes.
Strong sophomore class boosts Grafton girls' track heading into big SWCL meet vs. Tantasqua Original
Steve Farley Correspondent Thanks to a promising sophomore class, the Grafton girls' squad is 3-0 heading into Wednesday’s home meet against 4-0 Tantasqua in what should be a classic SWCL showdown and perhaps a tuneup for next month’s league championship. “They (Warriors) will be good competition for sure,” said second-year coach Ryan Mercier, whose team placed second at last year’s SWCL meet. “The Tantasqua meet will be a really good meet to see where we stand in the SWCL.
Time to polish Tucson's real gem"
Demion Clinco's 2/19 op-ed offering several good options to fairly and painlessly fund our transit system so that we can keep it fare-free is right on the money. The savings of fare-free transit come from many places, including that there is no need to pay for an expensive fare-collection system. In a time when we must act to reduce the effects of climate change, boosting transit use is one of the most efficient ways we can invest funds for a maximum reduction in carbon emissions.

He compares known truths from world religions with his own experience with psychedelics, shamanism and religion, and then distilling Jesus' words down to their true, inner meanings. Detective Phil George - By Steve Farley Phil has fought with his allies for many years.

Oxford High boys’ track and field coach Chris Pietro raves about his senior leadership, as he should, because the upstart Pirates are off to a 2-0 start in the SWCL C with victories over Quaboag (91-38) and Millbury (72½-63½). “They just have the will to come to practice every day, work hard, and get better,” said Pietro, who is in his sixth season. “They enjoy competing. They mesh very well together, from the eighth graders to the seniors on the team, and I love that aspect.

Uxbridge indoor track junior Aidan Ross keeps school records tumbling
The accolades continued for Uxbridge High junior Aidan Ross when he smashed the Spartans' record in the 2 mile last weekend, and then further lowered the standard at the Division 5 state meet Friday night, also at the Reggie. Ross, the Division 3 state champion in cross-country last fall, easily won the 2 mile at the Last Chance to Qualify Meet last Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center with a 9:32.15, 17½ seconds faster than Greater Lowell Tech’s Albert Ferreras (9:49.75).
Quabbin Regional boys' indoor track remains model of consistency
The Quabbin Regional boys’ indoor track team has been a model of consistency under coach Matt Castriotta, and the Panthers continue to shine, regardless of the venue or depth of their opponents. At last Saturday’s 43rd District E Indoor Invitational at Fitchburg High, Quabbin placed third overall with 54 points, then Friday night placed second to Littleton at the Division 5 state meet at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. The Panthers' senior captains again came through in Boston.

WESTBOROUGH — When Nicholas D’Angelo scored with under a minute to go in overtime, Algonquin coach Greg Cappello breathed a sigh of relief. For D’Angelo, his teammates, and their raucous fans, it was time to celebrate. D’Angelo snapped a 2-2 tie, slipping it past Auburn goaltender Nate Brown with 51.8 seconds left in overtime to lift No. 3 Algonquin to a dramatic, 3-2, win on Senior Night over the sixth-ranked Rockets at a packed NorthStar Ice Sports.
Wachusett Regional boys' indoor track gears up for big events, starting with Mid-Wach A meet Original
So if you’re a fan of the Wachusett Regional boys’ indoor track program, you’re probably hoping for a little bit of déjà vu. Two years ago, the Mountaineers were 3-1 going into the Mid-Wach A league meet at Fitchburg High’s Doug Grutchfield Field House. Wachusett won that event and returned to the Red Raiders gymnasium a week later to capture its 12th Central Mass. Division 1 title, defeating defending champion Shrewsbury, 116-90.
Nathaniel Chaney's putback at buzzer lifts Millbury past Grafton, 50-48, in SWCL boys' basketball thriller
MILLBURY — Millbury coach Jim Donnelly can’t say enough good things about senior captain Nathaniel Chaney. On Monday night against SWCL rival Grafton, the hustling and heady Chaney scored on a putback as time expired to give the Woolies a 50-48 victory over the eighth-ranked Gators. Millbury (11-2, 8-2 SWCL) has won six straight and is 5-0 inside the comfy confines of its gymnasium. Grafton (10-5, 7-3) has lost four of its last six games after an 8-1 start.
Littleton track teams enjoy collecting the hardware this winter Original
Life is good for Littleton boys’ indoor track coach Casey Kaldenberg, whose team is 5-0 and currently is riding a 16-meet winning streak. “Last year’s team was strong, and we believe we would have been highly competitive at the state level, and although all of the invites and championship meets were canceled, we made the best of it with a four-meet indoor/outdoor season,” Kaldenberg said.
St. John's indoor track keeps plowing through plight of pandemic Original
While some schools have been flourishing despite the relentless COVID-19 pandemic, St. John’s has had a tougher time regrouping and restarting. The proud Pioneers program has been stymied with an assortment of issues this winter. “Because of the difficulty in finding enough track time for all the teams, we don’t always have all Tri-County League teams present for a given meet, therefore we decided not to score any dual meets at all this year,” St. John’s coach Tim Hilliard said.
Local Opinion: Legislature needs to fully fund Arizona State Parks Heritage Fund
Local Opinion: Legislature needs to fully fund Arizona State Parks Heritage Fund The following is the opinion and analysis of the writer: For many of us, our most treasured childhood memories are romping in a neighborhood park or taking a hike in Arizona’s wide-open spaces. Every community in our state, regardless of size, has a place where parents and their children picnic; throw, kick, hit and dunk a ball, or stare in wonderment at Arizona’s unique flora and fauna.

Hudson indoor track teams are giving the fine efforts while starting strong this winter
Hudson boys’ indoor track coach Bill Gaudere has one request for his student-athletes, and that is to show up for practice. “Which is all what a coach can ask for,” whose squad is 2-1 with wins over Oakmont and Gardner and a loss over perennial power Littleton. “They work hard. Come race day, they give it their best effort.” The 64-year-old Gaudere, who has been a runner himself for 49 years, isn’t one to set many goals for his team, but he is a stickler for hard work and dedication.
'This is exactly where we want to be' — Brooks boosts Shepherd Hill past Grafton
DUDLEY — Even when he isn’t scoring, Shepherd Hill junior Ryan Brooks still has a huge presence in the paint. The 6-foot-6 Brooks poured in 20 of his season-high 28 points in the second half, while 6-1 point guard Nicholas Veronis scored all 11 of his points in the first half to help lead the sixth-ranked Rams to an 87-60 win over No. 8 Grafton on Saturday, snapping an eight-game winning streak for the Gators.
No 3-pointers, no problem for Cam Boucher, who lifts Northbridge past Millbury
NORTHBRIDGE — Senior sharpshooter Cam Boucher was uncharacteristically held to zero 3-point attempts for Northbridge on Friday night against Southern Worcester County League rival Millbury. Unfortunately for the Woolies, the cagey but talented 5-foot-11 point guard has proven throughout his career that he can find other ways to score points. Boucher netted a game-high 17 points, while classmate Ryan Boyce added 14 to help lead the Rams over MIllbury, 58-41, for their third straight win.
High school girls' indoor track: Shrewsbury is challenging in Mid-Wach A Original
The Shrewsbury High girls' indoor track team has still produced some standout athletes since the retirement of legendary MSTCA Hall of Fame coach Nick DiPilato nearly a decade ago, but it’s been a long time since the Colonials have claimed any Mid-Wach A or Central Mass. Division 1 championships. So while it’s far too early to predict if Shrewsbury will capture any thardware this winter, the confident Colonials find themselves 3-0 after defeating Mid-Wach A newcomer Westboro on Wednesday night.
Gonzalez, Dorazio lead balanced attack as Grafton shakes off slow start to top Uxbridge
GRAFTON — Because of COVID-19 and injuries, Grafton had to pause all of its basketball activities last week, so Gators coach Jessica Hollis wasn’t terribly surprised when her team fell behind by 11 points early in the first quarter against Southern Worcester County League rival Uxbridge on Monday night. But once Grafton settled down, the Gators started to look like the team that had won six of their first eight games.
High school boys' indoor track: Shepherd Hill eyes success after impressive start
It may have taken 20 months, but Shepherd Hill boys’ indoor track coach Len Harmon was ecstatic about his team finally getting the opportunity to compete at a high level again on an actual indoor track. The upstart Rams opened their brief, but challenging dual-meet slate last month with an impressive 58½-32½ win over Mid-Wach A rival Shrewsbury, the first time Shepherd Hill had beaten the Colonials.
Uxbridge sports small but talented boys' indoor track team this winter
While Uxbridge High junior Aidan Ross undoubtedly should shine on the big stage this winter, the Spartans, despite low numbers, boast another talented squad guided by Dave Halacy, who is in his 22nd year as coach. Uxbridge, thus far, hasn’t missed a beat as it’s already 4-0 after posting wins over SWCL foes Bartlett, Oxford, David Prouty and Quaboag.
Grafton Superintendent Jay Cummings steps in to coach indoor track programs
After Jason Cote became Grafton High School’s new assistant principal and Matt Bazinet also stepped down, the Gators boys’ and girls’ indoor track program was suddenly devoid of coaches and in jeopardy of missing another winter season. Luckily for the student-athletes, Grafton schools Superintendent Jay Cummings did not want to see a second straight indoor season wiped out, so he took over the reins for at least this winter.
Burncoat High senior Yoofi Abaka (shot put) among track and field winners at Reggie Lewis Center
Congratulations to Burncoat senior Yoofi Abaka, who won the shot put at Monday’s Boston Holiday Challenge at the Reggie Lewis Center with a strong heave of 51 feet, 1¼ inches. High school indoor track: Eager Bromfield School program focuses on individuals in rebuild
Another school with a rich tradition in track is Bromfield, but despite some talented athletes of both genders, fifth-year coach Greg Bourque is basically rebuilding the proud program from scratch. Only 11 boys and six girls came out are on the roster, and just five are sophomores or seniors. There are no juniors. “We’ve got a lot of young kids,” Bourque said.

With all due respect to Bruce Springsteen, the Wachusett Regional girls' indoor track team yearns to return to the “Glory Days” when winning a Central Mass. Division 1 Championship and competing for a Division 1 state title seemed like an annual occurrence for the Mountaineers' talented and driven student-athletes. Two years ago, Algonquin Regional stunned Wachusett by capturing the CMass championship at Fitchburg High. The Mountaineers won 11 straight titles from 2009 to 2019.

WRENTHAM — Uxbridge High junior Aidan Ross has always dreamed of becoming a state champion. After blowing out the field in the Division 3 All-State race at Wrentham Developmental Center, that dream is now a reality. Ross not only posted the best time over all three divisions, but also set a course record in a blistering 14 minutes, 47.2 seconds. Two years ago as a freshman, Ross finished 120th on the biggest stage. He remembers being disappointed, frustrated and humbled by that performance.
Division 4 girls' soccer: Millbury edges rival Valley Tech, 1-0, nets berth in state semis
MILLBURY — Millbury High girls’ soccer coach Hussein Issa reminds his team all the time that they are still the reigning Division 4 state champions, which is true because there was no postseason last year due to COVID-19. After Saturday night’s 1-0 victory over fifth-seeded Blackstone Valley Tech in a Division 4 state quarterfinal, the fourth-seeded Woolies need just one more victory to defend a title they’ve held and cherished for nearly 24 months.
Algonquin Regional football, holds off Marlborough, best football start since 1996
NORTHBOROUGH — With Marlborough down to its final few plays in the fourth quarter, Algonquin senior captain Shane Stevens knew where Panthers junior quarterback Jason Knollenberg was going to throw the ball. “I watched the film all week,” said Stevens, who plays safety. “They like taking their long shots. They split out their two receivers as wide as they can. With two minutes left, I knew they’d throw something deep.
