TV News Reporter Steve “Scoop” Jefferson joined WFAA TV in Dallas Fort-Worth, Texas after more than 19 years at the sister station WTHR 13 News since June 2002.
He spends countless hours mentoring young black males in leadership programs. He also has countless men & women He took under his wings who are his Radio or TV News Protégés working in newsrooms across the country.
Steve's news experience includes reporting and anchoring at TV and Radio Stations in Ohio, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi and Oregon, and the Dallas Fort Worth market.
Steve, affectionately known as “Scoop”, is an Emmy Award-Winning Reporter with numerous other awards including Edward R Murrow, Best Newscast from the Associated Press, and various community service awards. He's reported on major events including the Atlanta bombings, 100 Million Man March, the Georgia floods and Hurricanes George and Katrina, and broke the Jared Fogle-Subway FBI Investigation Story, and most recently accepted assignments to cover the Shooting Death of Breonna Taylor & the Murder Trial of Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd.
Steve is from Dayton, Ohio, where he graduated from The Wright State University Journalism School. He is a twin and has more than a dozen other siblings living in various states but mostly Ohio. He is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, served multiple terms as President of The Indianapolis Association of Black Journalists, the Drill Sargent for the Beautillion Militaire Leadership Scholarship Program for 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, Senior Mentor for Project MR. at The Center for Leadership Development and a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Steve has served on several Board of Directors and volunteers with several community organizations including Grace Apostolic Church in Indy, The Indianapolis Press Club Foundation & as Vice President of Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
