Steve Kretzmann’s Biography
Journalist and photojournalist since 2000 at East Cape News, I am owner and editor of the independent commercial news agency West Cape News (www.westcapenews.com), established in 2006.
By personally training and mentoring young aspiring journalists from Cape Town's townships, WCN started covering breaking news in areas previously overlooked by mainstream press until the shrinkage of print circulations and cutting of budgets led to closure of our newsroom in 2013.
I founded and run The Critter (thecritter.co.za) in 2004, and Cape Town local community newspaper Mother City News (www.issuu.com/mothercitynews) in 2018.
WCN is also a platform for my own freelance work.
