Three ways you can upgrade your cyber security to defend against phishing attacks
Safeguarding against cyber attacks is paramount for protecting the integrity and security of your business. Phishing is a fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details. The sender disguises themselves as a trustworthy entity through electronic communication channels, which can make them difficult to detect if you are unfamiliar with this form of cyber threat.
Fear in Barbell Training (and How to Overcome it)
by Steve Ross, SSC | September 13, 2023 The benefits of barbell training are numerous and well-documented. From improvements in lean muscle mass, bone density, connective tissue integrity, and the neuromuscular system as a whole, everything about our bodies adapts and improves as we get stronger.
Pride… and protest
Sandy O'Sullivan responds to Lidia Thorpe's protest action at Mardi Gras and speaks to the history of, and continuing need for, protest alongside celebration. Pride celebrations across the world are sites of protest, born of challenges to a system in which we do not belong. It’s an anti-establishment activism that Indigenous people and queer people share. And for queer Indigenous people, this fight is often central to our right to exist.
Tevye's Daughters and the Women of Fiddler
Fiddler on the Roof is the story of Tevye the Milkman and his struggles to adapt to changing traditions in his little village of Anatevke. But who’s motivating him to adapt to these changes at all? Tevye has six opinionated, intelligent, and independent women in his life — his wife, Golde, and his five daughters: Tsaytl, Hodl, Khave, Shprintze, and Bielke. Their wits and whims shepherd Tevye through his development and open his eyes to the wide world outside his established routines and rituals.
Pertame Language Revitalization Project
Pertame (Southern Arrernte) belongs to the country south of Mparntwe, it is a rich and old language that conveys over 60 thousand years of antiquity; ancestry and wisdom of the country. Our Pertame grandparents’ generations were lucky to grow up on the traditional lands of our Tnengkerra (Ancestors), speaking Pertame as their first language while connected in culture and kinship.
On Our African Roots
My mum’s pop was an African American man from Boston who came, in the 1800s, to this particular colony. The circumstances of his coming, the trip and the reasons, are to this day unclear. What came next, however, is not: he bee-lined direct for what was then the frontier, my Gamilaraay dhawun. Pop Daniels, you see, understood that freedom in any colony is found not at the centre, but at the margins. And at this margin he found not just freedom, but love and joy and family.
Defunding the police and abolishing prisons are not radical ideas
The past few months have sparked conversations about defunding the police, specifically through the Black Lives Matter protests held around the world. I want to explain, from a criminological point of view, why this is imperative. We know that there have been more than 440 Aboriginal deaths in custody, according to Guardian Australia, since the royal commission into Aboriginal deaths in custody report and recommendations were released in 1991.
Black liberation - it's time to be on the right side of history - Lynda-June Coe - IndigenousX
A deliberate silence has engulfed this country for over 200 years. On Saturday 6 June 2020 that silence was overturned. Enormous crowds mobilised for the Black Lives Matter movement in Australia – hundreds of thousands according to organisers, though police put the figures in the tens of thousands – in a show of solidarity for the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and Aboriginal deaths in custody. The fact of the matter is Australia has a fundamental problem with murdering black people.

For us, they are not just numbers, they are real women who matter
My name is Shirleen Campbell. I’m a mum, a grandmother, an aunty, a daughter, a sister, a wife and a proud Warlpiri and Arrernte woman who is a third generation resident of an Alice Springs Town Camp, Lhenpe Artnwe, better known as Hoppy’s Camp. Youth voices creating change for justice
The Ngaga-dji report includes composite stories that include the real experiences of Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander children in the youth justice system. Details and names have been changed for confidentiality. As the Koorie Youth Council heads to the land of the Eora Nation to discuss the power of cultural healing, I want to share the voices of children calling out for connection and support – those behind bars in Victoria.
10 questions I get from non-Indigenous students
"Do you think Aboriginal people have been helped to survive to this point because of white people?" I have been working as an academic for a couple of years now, and have found that every semester many of my students bring in to the course any number of stereotypical or misguided assumptions or beliefs about Indigenous people and history.
The revolution has always been in the hands of the young
No matter what young Aboriginal people do we will be labelled as the troublemaker in the eyes of the coloniser in our protests, writing, in school, as parents and as a community member. Last month I got the opportunity to sit in Gary Foley’s lectures at Victoria University. I feel very fortunate enough to attend and to get the chance to listen and learn about Aboriginal resistance here in so-called australia.
