What was your first job as a journalist?
I was a part-time contributor to Enthusiast Gaming, writing quick news pieces for their blog site.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I was given a typewriter as a kid and poured hours over it, writing short stories. Gave me a deep appreciation for auto-correct.
How is social media changing news?
Social media is giving everyone on the platform the chance to read and share news easily. For better or worse, the news is as accessible as ever.

Clark Kent
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means to tell a story or deliver a message without bias. It also helps to be informative and engaging in your writing.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
#pokemonmastersex (Someone clearly didn't think that one through enough)
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer pitches to be clear to the point but state expectations in as much detail as needed.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
A per my writing gigs, I write and optimize all pieces of content for WordPress, ensuring SEO guidelines are in order.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter has its ups and downs, but I've been able to connect with a great community of minds and share my work.

I'm already humbled by the community that has chosen to follow me on social media already. That said, Mark Hamill, let's chat!
Why did you become a journalist?
I've always felt compelled to critic the contemporary games emerging in the industry and tell the stories of the developers behind them.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did not. However, as a part of the journalism class in high school, we did create the highschool yearbook and creative pieces within.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
This may seem like a cop-out, but all of them. I'm privileged to be able to do what I'm doing and that's what matters most to me.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Never fall for the "work for exposure" trap. Your time and effort are more valuable than an empty promise.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Early afternoon. That way I can ensure I respond in a timely manner and if possible, begin working on the piece that day.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I was asked to report on an early hands-on preview of Apple Arcade ahead of its wide release.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I was asked to copy/paste what was essentially a pre-written ad for a cryptocurrency site on one of the outlets I write for.
What's your favorite drink?
That's easy, coffee.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In 2020? Probably either out for a walk to stretch my legs or in the kitchen cooking. I miss going to the movies.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
The Verge, Windows Central, and TechCrunch are three of my favourite publications due to the incredible journalists they have on staff.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That I'm strictly a games journalist. I write an equal amount of content, if not more, on the general tech industry as well.
