Why 70 RDCs and 40 Ministers Will Soon Become Ordinary Civilians After the Next Reshuffling
Health centres and hospitals should make requisitions for enough anti-hypertensive drugs, including sufficient doses of normal saline, to be able to attend to the big numbers of government officials who are likely to be affected by the pending reshuffle. In my investigations, a big number of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), their deputies and Assistant RDCs will not remain after this reshuffle, which, to me, is like a deadly tsunami.
STEVEN ARIONG: Hon. Balaam, Thank You for Waking Up Other Ministers
Before the appointment of Hon. Balaam Atenyi as Minister of Local Government, Uganda had a largely silent Cabinet, with ministers rarely speaking out against corruption during their public gatherings. In fact, some ministers were accused of shielding corrupt civil servants because, during general campaigns, some civil servants aligned themselves with ministers and allegedly became funders of their campaigns using public resources.
Teso Youth Rally Around Regional Agenda as Kazi Ni Kazi Backs Muhoozi 2031 Bid
SOROTI, UGANDA — A section of leaders, youth, professionals and political actors from the Teso sub-region have renewed calls for the development of a unified regional agenda, arguing that a common development framework could strengthen Teso’s bargaining power when engaging the central government.
Why the Minister of Works and PS Should Be Held Accountable for Lost Money in Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority
The Minister of Works and Transport, Mr. Fred Byamukama, has been moving around claiming to expose corruption within the Ministry of Works. He has been making statements and raising concerns about alleged corruption, but questions remain about whether sufficient evidence and proper investigations have been conducted before such issues are presented to the public.
STEVEN ARIONG: Hon. Minister Byamukama, did government lose any money on compensation, or was it about to lose?
I would like to thank the Minister for Works and Transport, Hon. Fred Byamukama, for his efforts towards the fight against corruption, although his move to expose corruption has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of his exposure is that it lets people know that there is a disease called corruption and that it needs to be fought hard. However, the disadvantage is that there is no sufficient evidence at hand to pin the people allegedly involved in the planned corruption.
Museveni, Kagame and Ruto Urged to Crack Down on Alleged NCTTCA Corruption
Veteran journalist and Pan-Africanist Steven Ariong has called on the Presidents of Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya to urgently intervene in what he describes as widespread corruption and weak financial oversight within the Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA).
STEVEN ARIONG: Its will only be General Muhoozi’s government that will end corruption in Uganda
Mzee Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, with his forgiving heart, will not scare corruption to move a step out of Uganda unless General Muhoozi Kainerugaba assumes power. I have written this repeatedly and repeatedly: with General Muhoozi, the corrupt will never see freedom. Let them enjoy that impunity when Mzee is still in charge, where you steal public funds, with evidence recovered, and Mzee says you are free without going through the judicial process.
Mzee, Thanks for Forgiving Anita Among; Please Forgive Obore and Team Also
Last week, when I wrote my opinion suggesting that if God could give me a remote to rewind the age of President Museveni, Mama Janet Museveni, General Salim Saleh and General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to their youthful age, for them to continue providing peace in Uganda, I received a lot of insults from shortsighted Ugandans who like pretending a lot. To me, those are the only people who don’t hold personal things against anyone.
STEVEN ARIONG: IGG, Where’s the Investigation Report You Carried Out on the Ministry of Works?
I want to commend the efforts by State organs established to fight against corruption in our mighty Uganda. My special thanks go to the President of the Republic of Uganda, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for establishing structures with the responsibility of fighting corruption, such as the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Inspectorate of Government and many others. Well, I do appreciate the way the State House Anti-Corruption Unit moves quickly and makes things clear to the public.
Corruption in Ministry of Works: Did Commissioner Wani Sleep on His Job?
When I read the report by the Auditor General on the rot in the Ministry of Works, I got disturbed, and to me, all this was deliberately caused by one person who was the Commissioner for Roads Design during the time of UNRA. As Minister for Works, my brother Fred Byamukama should immediately disconnect his advisers if he wants to remain relevant in the fight against corruption in that ministry.
The way the law was asleep when officials were embezzling public funds should continue to be asleep as Balaam exposes the corrupt
I have seen and read some confused people bringing in the aspect of the law when the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, is exposing and arresting officials implicated in embezzling public funds. My question is: Why was the law deeply asleep when public funds were being abused, but now waking up when the culprits are being arrested? Enough is enough. Hon. Balaam does not need to be reminded of issues of the law.
If God could avail me with an age remote, I would bring Gen. Museveni’s age to 50 and Gen. Sale to 45
Sometimes I sit down and watch the countless developmental achievements that Uganda is now experiencing since President Museveni ascended to power, then I ask myself: what next after President Museveni? But then the picture of our bad man, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, comes to my mind and I get settled.
Hon. Okasai, Where Is the Problem?
Before I go deep into criticising the State Minister for Energy Development, Hon. Sidronius Okasai Opolot, I would first like to understand where the problem is. Is the Ministry too big for you to handle, or is there something else that is affecting service delivery? I am writing this not out of bias or witch-hunting. I am entitled to my opinion, and as a fellow Iteso, I can assure you that your performance has left many of us disappointed.
STEVEN ARIONG: Many Children Born This Year and Next Year Are Likely to Be Named After Minister Balaam
The excitement among the local population over the anti-corruption crusade by the Minister of Local Government, Mr. Balaam Barugahara, is likely to result in many children being named after him. Every district that Minister Balaam visits, the public excitement to see him and their boldness to confront district officials accused of mismanaging public projects is an indication that the community is tired of suffering from poor services caused by corrupt officials.
Salama Road Residents Fear Disaster as Deep Drainage Channel Remains Unrepaired
The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) have been urged to urgently address a dangerous drainage channel along Salama Road in Dubai Zone, Makindye Division, before heavy rains put the lives of hundreds of residents at risk. The concern comes amid warnings of increased rainfall, with some parts of the country, including Kampala, considered vulnerable to flooding.
STEVEN ARIONG: Minister Byamukama’s Outbursts Could Scare Foreign Investors from Funding Uganda’s Infrastructure
I want to commend the President of Uganda, our Jajja Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for the sacrifices he and his comrades in uniform made over many years to restore peace in Uganda. I salute those brothers and sisters who are no longer with us, as well as those who are still alive, for the contribution they made toward bringing peace to our country.
STEVEN ARIONG: Hon Kanyesigye, Stop Soiling Gen Muhoozi’s Name—Do You Have Evidence?
I have seen and read alleged remarks attributed to the National Female Youth MP, Hon. Mercy Kanyesigye, against our PLU Chairman and Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, linking him to what she allegedly described in the media as abductions and killings of Ugandans. The media quoted her as calling upon young people to oppose such practices and demand accountability from leaders and security authorities. She was also quoted as making strongly worded personal criticism of Gen.
Is the Minister of Works on Course to Become the Worst-Performing Minister?
I write this as my own opinion and as a well-disciplined Ugandan who does not condone corruption, because corruption has delayed our country from achieving middle-income status. However, how corruption is being fought, who is fighting it, and those who claim to be fighting it raise questions: Are they also clean? I want to appreciate the approach being used by Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi and his deputy, Hon. Justine Nameere.
Shock as Works Minister Praises Roads Completed Under Supervision of Dismissed Engineers
Parliament — Questions have emerged over the dismissal of senior engineers in the Ministry of Works and Transport after the ministry presented several completed road projects before Parliament, including roads that were implemented under the supervision of engineers who were later dismissed.
Entebbe Taxi Park Traders Petition Balaam Over Alleged Extortion, Lock-Ups Sold for Up to Shs25 Million
Traders operating at Entebbe Taxi Park have petitioned the Minister of Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara Atenyi, seeking his intervention over what they describe as exorbitant charges, alleged extortion and the irregular sale of lock-ups at the taxi park. The traders claim that some lock-ups are being sold for between Shs8 million and Shs25 million, prices they say are beyond the reach of ordinary entrepreneurs seeking to establish legitimate businesses.
Hon. Byamukama, it seems you’re also beginning to sing the song sung by previous ministers
When I followed the explanations by the Minister of Works and Transport, Hon. Fred Byamukama, while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Infrastructure Development, I got a bit disturbed because this is a man who had assured Ugandans that he was a solution for the Ministry of Works. The minister who had labelled the previous ministers as not assertive on the issues in the Ministry of Works has also started singing the song which was used by the previous ministers.
STEVEN ARIONG: My brother Musinguzi, you had started very well, but Among’s influence nailed you badly
There’s a saying: God opens your way, but the devil also works very hard to ensure that he gives you a bad friend who will bring you down. This is the situation with the Executive Director of the Uganda Revenue Authority, Mr John Musinguzi Rujoki. When the President appointed my brother in 2020, Ugandans were so happy, with a lot of expectations that a calm John Musinguzi would perform to the best of his experience. Indeed, he started very well.
Minister Byamukama, Watch Your Back: Questions Mount Over Your Political Rise
Works and Transport Minister Fred Byamukama has been urged to address allegations surrounding his political rise and the circumstances under which some of his opponents were prevented from contesting against him. The concerns have been raised by veteran journalist Steven Ariong, who says the minister should welcome scrutiny and ensure that questions surrounding his political career and leadership are fully addressed.
Why Commissioner for National Roads Eng. Isaac Wani Should Also Step Aside for Investigations
The reason I have kept on appealing to our mighty President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, to spare some time and meet with the dismissed engineers in the Ministry of Works is because there is a lot in that ministry that no one has ever told the President about. Instead, the so-called whistleblowers are the same culprits who should also be dismissed.
Local Government Thieves: VP’s Statement Does Not Mean Steal Public Funds
When the Vice President of Uganda, Rtd. Major Jessica Alupo, made a statement while officiating at the workshop of local government officials called by the Minister of Local Government, calling not to humiliate officials accused of corruption in the public domain, there was a serious round of applause for the local government officials.
Mr President, there’s a lot hidden in the Ministry of Works. If you go deeper, even the current minister may not survive the axe
Mr President, permit me to thank you for being a tolerant grandfather who does not act based on rumours. This is the reason why, when the saga involving Among kept coming to your attention, you did not react hastily. Instead, you took your time to gather all the facts about Anita Among. As a very intelligent President, you did not turn down any invitation by the former Speaker of Parliament to her functions, even when you were not happy with how she was conducting herself.
Who should’ve been dismissed in the Ministry of Works?
President Museveni ordered the dismissal of six senior engineers at the Ministry of Works based on the information he said he was briefed on. The dismissed officials include Eng. Ronald Olaki, Stephen Kitonsa, Rogers Kisambira, and others. President Museveni is not a man who rushes to do something without a clear picture.
Will the President Keep Quiet and Listen to the Several Demands by Kakumiro Residents for Action Against Minister Byamukama?
While other electorates are very happy with the election of their leaders, I was surprised to experience a different feeling when I went to Bugangaizi Constituency in Kakumiro District, where the State Minister for Works, Mr. Fred Byamukama, represents the people in Parliament. What shocked me most was when locals labelled Hon. Byamukama as a Member of Parliament representing Anita Among instead of Bugangaizi Constituency. I was shocked and concerned as to why they felt that way.
Karamoja Drought Would Have Been Solved Long Ago, but Some People Use It for Personal Gains
I always tell people not to trust the tears of a coffin maker at a burial. When that gentleman comes shedding tears while viewing the body, he may not necessarily feel the pain of losing that person, but his pain could be that the relatives of the deceased did not buy the coffin from his shop, or he is using his tears as a password to view the style in which the coffin was made so that he can also make one like it.
Minister Balaam Needs to Be Accorded Maximum Support to Clean Up Local Government
Local governments have become the centre of corruption in this country, whereby, without paying money to the District Service Commissions, no one can secure a job, regardless of their qualifications. These service commissions even award jobs to candidates who have failed interviews, provided they have paid a bribe. It is only in local government where a project is budgeted at Shs 800 million, but only Shs 300 million is actually spent on the project.
STEVEN ARIONG: Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba Will Never Forgive a Corrupt Official
I have seen several people running to the media, appealing to President Museveni to tell our Supreme PLU leader, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to forgive former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and others accused of corruption. To me, this is just wasting time. Those who still run to plead with President Museveni over Among’s case didn’t watch the State of the Nation Address, where President Museveni spoke in a tough tone, saying that enough is enough for corrupt officials.
Gweri County MP Edmond Ariko Linked to Alleged Parliamentary Cash Advances as Questions Mount
Our Reporter, SOROTI – Gweri County Member of Parliament Edmond Ariko has been linked to alleged parliamentary cash advances under a community outreach programme, following the circulation of a document that purportedly details payments made to him over several years. The document, which has been circulating online, allegedly indicates that Ariko began receiving the advances in April 2022.
STEVEN ARIONG: Properties of Corrupt Officials Should Be Auctioned
I have seen several cases where corrupt government officials are arrested, prosecuted, and jailed for embezzling public funds. The first thing the government usually does is freeze their bank accounts, but it often stops there. In my view, that is not enough.
STEVEN ARIONG: Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba Is Not Immune to Abuse and Criticism, But Don’t Go Overboard
Many Ugandans are complaining about the alleged hostile environment caused by the persistent arrests ordered by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. I don’t think Gen Muhoozi just wakes up and starts ordering the arrest of everyone, including those who have done nothing wrong. Otherwise, if that were his intention, the whole population of Kampala would be in different prisons.
Three Teso MPs Reportedly Struggle to Repay Shs1 Billion Loans
SOROTI – Three Members of Parliament from the Teso sub-region are reportedly facing financial pressure after allegedly borrowing substantial sums from commercial banks in anticipation of securing lucrative leadership positions in Parliament. Sources familiar with the matter claim that each of the legislators borrowed approximately Shs1 billion from different financial institutions during the election period.
STEVEN ARIONG: It’s only a few selfish people who don’t understand Gen. Muhoozi
I have been reading on several social media platforms how a few cliques of selfish individuals have been attacking Gen. Muhoozi, calling him all sorts of names, including a drunkard, a poorly brought-up son, a madman, a fool, among many others. But to me, I am in the group of many Ugandans who know the importance of having Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba in this country. Yes, he could have, at some point, moved beyond his line, but we must ask ourselves why he chose to be like that.
STEVEN ARIONG: Ministry of Gender, Where Is the Shs4.7 Billion Meant for Moroto Children Remand Home?
First, I would like to congratulate President Yoweri Museveni for appointing Rt. Maj. Gen. Henry Tumukunde as the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development. The ministry has, for some time, remained largely silent on several issues affecting Ugandans, including the welfare of citizens working in the diaspora.
Karamoja Leaders Angry Over Delayed Completion of Moroto Remand Home
Steven Ariong | Moroto — Karamoja leaders have expressed frustration over the delayed completion of the Karamoja Regional Remand Home in Moroto District, a project that was expected to ease the transportation of juvenile offenders to Mbale Remand Home, located over 178 kilometres away.
STEVEN ARIONG: Uganda has the best hospitals to handle any disease.
I would like to send my sympathy message to the former Speaker of Parliament, Annita Annet Among, if it is true that she is sick, as has been reported by former Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko. All of us need to be healthy so that we can face the challenges caused by ourselves. However, this may not be authentic, given the fact that Among had her lawyer during the raid of her property. If this was coming from her lawyer, it could carry some sense, but anyway, sickness has no formula. Hon.
Do the leaders of Teso know the importance of having an international airport?
On several occasions, the government has launched the construction of international airports. Hoima has one, Kabale has one, Arua has one, Gulu will also soon get one, and Karamoja has one in Kidepo National Park, while Teso leaders are either busy eating in the parliamentary canteen or are still on parliamentary exposure trips. Teso Region should have been the first to receive an international airport, given the fact that it has a training school for aircraft operations.
Uganda is becoming too small for parliamentary staff whose accounts were used for stealing taxpayers’ money
It has not yet reached the climax of running. The toilets that people used not to talk in due to their smell will be among the most conducive environments for parliamentary staff who have since disappeared following their planned arrest over corruption.
It is Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oboth who needs prayers so that he cleans Parliament well, not the former Speaker
I have come across several calls by religious leaders in Teso calling upon Christians to spend some hours praying for the current former Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among. This is quite laughable. Why would Ugandans waste their prayers on leaders who have caused their suffering? In fact, what is happening to the former Speaker of Parliament is God’s punishment for what she did to the people of Teso, Kakumiro, and Hoima.
First Karamoja Clinker Factory Sparks Investment Rush, Creates Jobs
Moroto, Uganda — Investing in Karamoja was something many people had never considered. Many had a negative impression of the region, even those who worked there. “We thank President Museveni for his efforts in convincing Chinese investors to set up a cement factory in Karamoja.” As we speak, people who previously had a negative perception of Karamoja, particularly Moroto, are now rushing to invest in the region.
Who Owns Achomai Irrigation Scheme?
The ownership and management of the Shs71 billion Achomai Irrigation Scheme in Kamutur Sub-county, Bukedea District, have come under scrutiny amid growing concerns from local residents who claim they have little knowledge of the project despite it being presented as a community-driven initiative. The irrigation scheme, funded by the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), was commissioned by President Yoweri Museveni on 5th November 2025.
Amujaju and Kabarwa Residents Welcomed Anita Among’s House Arrest, Cite Years of Suffering
BUKEDEA, Uganda – Some residents of Amujaju and Kabarwa villages in Bukedea District have expressed satisfaction following reports of house arrest involving former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, saying they hope ongoing investigations will shed light on grievances they have held for years over a disputed land conflict.
STEVEN ARIONG: PLU Administrative changes are normal
I have read a number of people celebrating the changes made by our Supreme Leader of PLU, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, where he changed Hon. David Kabanda, replacing him with Hon. Fadhil Twalla. In these changes, many think Hon. David Kabanda has been dropped; that is a pure lie. In any organization, there are supposed to be changes, so what has happened in PLU is just normal changes like any other organization. Hon.
Uganda’s Rome Embassy Wins Praise Over Tourism Marketing Efforts
A section of tour guides operating in Karamoja, Nakasongola, and Murchison Falls National Park have praised the efforts of Uganda’s Embassy in Rome, saying its tourism promotion campaigns have contributed to a growing number of visitors from Italy, France, and the United States.
Madam Anita Among, have you seen how Parliament celebrated your downfall?
Any Ugandan who is still doubting that the former Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, was bad should see how Parliament cheered her downfall, with other MPs saying at least they can now breathe. Whenever I write stories about the former Speaker, some Ugandans criticize me, saying I hate Among. But how can I hate my sister? What I am only doing is to bring out the truth and the demonic behaviour of my sister while in the Speakership.
Mr President, those Iteso leaders who are coming to meet you over Among’s fate, take them to CID to record statements
I have heard that some leaders from Teso are planning to meet President Museveni over the issues surrounding former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among. This is just wasting the time of the President, but since this season people don’t have money and there is serious hunger in Teso, those leaders are just hungry. Where were they as Iteso leaders to advise Among not to behave erratically like that? Did they also share the stolen money?
SHOWDOWN IN KAKUMIRO! Residents Beg Museveni to End Nabanja-Byamukama Feud as Development Stalls
KAKUMIRO, Uganda – Concerned residents of Kakumiro District have appealed to President Yoweri Museveni to intervene and end the growing political rivalry between Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja and State Minister for Works, Hon. Fred Byamukama.
