It is Indigenous Awareness Week at Western University, many events are taking place throughout the week to celebrate the Indigenous awareness in Canada. More than 12 per cent of Canadians between the ages of 15 and 24 are unemployed and more than a quarter are underemployed which means they have degrees but end up in jobs that don’t require them. The latest numbers from Stats Canada show that the unemployment rate for 15-to-24-year-olds is almost twice that of the general population. Why is that that students coming right out of university or college can’t find jobs?
