1 Introduction Neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NAST) is increasingly used in the management of breast cancer to achieve tumour downstaging, thereby facilitating breast-conserving surgery and enabling less extensive axillary surgery, including targeted axillary dissection (TAD) [1]. In addition, NAST is particularly beneficial in tumour subtypes such as HER2-positive and triple-negative breast cancers, which are associated with higher rates of complete pathological response (pCR) [2, 3].
