INTRODUCTION Wildlife reintroductions are a social process, as well as an ecological process. They are deliberate translocations of organisms to an area where the species was historically present but was extirpated (Berger-Tal et al., 2020; IUCN SSC, 2013; Seddon et al., 2007).

ABSTRACT Pine martens were present in south-west England until the late 19th century. As part of a long-term strategy for recovery, a reintroduction is taking place in the “Two Moors Pine Marten Project.” With an approach adapted from a prior translocation in Wales, we used Q-methodology to develop rich insights into perspectives of key interest-holders in the region.
