Many-body chaos is a default property of many-body systems; at the same time, near-integrable behavior due to weakly interacting quasiparticles is ubiquitous throughout condensed matter at low temperature. There must therefore be a, possibly generic, crossover between these very different regimes.

The dynamics of interacting quantum many-body systems has two seemingly disparate but fundamental facets. The first is the dynamics of real-space local observables, and if and how they thermalize. The second is to interpret the dynamics of the many-body state as that of a fictitious particle on the underlying Hilbert-space graph. In this work, we derive an explicit relation between these two aspects of the dynamics.

The dynamics of non-Hermitian quantum systems have taken on an increasing relevance in light of quantum devices which are not perfectly isolated from their environment. The interest in them also stems from their fundamental differences from their Hermitian counterparts, particularly with regard to their spectral and eigenvector correlations.
