Resultatet?
All the celebrity babies born in 2024
Tinseltown is growing! From social media announcements to paparazzi pictures, some of Hollywood’s biggest stars debuted babies in 2024. Scroll down for a comprehensive list of every famous family that expanded their brood this year. On July 17, Riki Lindhome revealed to People that she had welcomed son Keaton via surrogate two years prior — and married Fred Armisen shortly after.
Why I write
I remember barely any of the fiction I wrote prior to about 2014. This may seem strange, given I did creative writing at university between 2009–2012, but my mind just goes blank when I try and remember anything I submitted for marking because I have no emotional connection to any of it. There are a few exceptions. I wrote a short sketch for a class that I ended up including in a YouTube video almost a decade later.
The Science Teacher that Disappeared
In around 2009, when I was about to go to university to do a humanities degree, the news media was full of people asking why kids weren't interested in science anymore. The way the conversation was framed, it always made out that it was kids' faults for not being interested in science. We all wanted to be on TV and be famous. We're all airhead millennials. That's the explanation.
Dinosaur Marketing Lady
I feel sorry for most people who have to spend a lot of time around children during their dinosaur phase, though there is one exception that I'll get to in a moment. Between the ages of 9 and 11, I was obsessed with dinosaurs. Massive reptile monster things that lived millions of years ago? Of course I'm going to be into that. This was also around the introduction of Pokémon, which captured the obsessive bit of children's brains shockingly well.
An Englishman on a Nude Beach
I don't know what it is that makes English people stick out like a sore thumb whenever we go abroad. I went to the Cannes film festival this year, and every time I queued up to buy food or a coffee, the server was speaking in French to customers before me in the queue, then they got to me and instinctively started speaking in English. (For the record, I was wearing a plain T-shirt and shorts with no logos anywhere.
How I've dealt with travel anxiety
It took me until 2019 to get the courage to go abroad on my own. I always fancied myself as the type of person who would visit other countries taking in the culture, but some ingrained part of me thought "I don't trust my ability to look after myself. If I'm going to go abroad I need to have someone else with me".
Technical paper: Pile construction using polymer support fluid at Gull Wing Bridge, Lowestoft
By Alex Wallis-Evans and Duncan Nicholson, Arup; Henry Spinks-Essam, KB International; and Steven Heaney, Quinn Piling 1.0 Introduction The Gull Wing is a new 350m long crossing of Lake Lothing in Lowestoft with a centrepiece 39.5m long rolling bascule bridge, which is opened and closed using hydraulic cylinders (see Figure 1). The bridge deck is up to 22m wide and supports a single carriageway with combined pedestrian and cycle paths on either side.
Technical paper: Validation of advanced soil constitutive models for use in numerical modelling to represent London Clay
By Anton Pillai, Arup; Bhavik Patel, Arup; and Stuart Hardy, Laing O’Rourke 1.0 Introduction The accurate prediction of displacements and internal forces within structural elements extracted from soil-structure interaction (SSI) analyses depends heavily on the soil constitutive model adopted. A plethora of constitutive models is available to represent soil behaviour; however, three are favoured for London Clay in SSI analyses.
Cross Border Litigation: What's On The Horizon For 2022? - Litigation, Mediation & Arbitration - UK
UK: Cross Border Litigation: What's On The Horizon For 2022? 26 January 2022 BLM To print this article, all you need is to be registered or login on Mondaq.com. The impact of Brexit cuts across many sectors, but perhaps nowhere is it more keenly felt than in cross border litigation. The end of the transition period on 31 December 2020 saw the UK leave the Brussels I recast regulations and Lugano Convention.
Four Corners flap: Potter’s permit issued without design review; planners now plead for changes
By Bruce Burdett TIVERTON — A step skipped in the town permitting process has created a mess for both a Tiverton Four Corners building project and town efforts to protect the neighborhood’s historic character. In an odd and evidently frustrating session for all involved, the Planning Board met on April 13 in an effort to sort things out. The focus was Charlie Barmonde’s second floor addition to his Arch Contemporary Ceramics building at 18 East Road, across the street from Gray’s Ice Cream.
Enterprise mobile security in the cloud
With major advancements in connectivity, mobile technology and network infrastructures, remote employee security has become more critical than ever. Companies are now allowing employees to work less in the office, and more from distant locations, ie, a home office, coffee shops, restaurants and hotels while working on the road. Stuart Hardy What these companies now face is the growing challenge in replicating network security when users are outside their trusted network.
Is Cloud Security the Future?
Businesses worldwide are tapping into the benefits of cloud computing - the practice of using a network of remote, internet-hosted servers to manage, process and store data. In fact, 80% of organisations are predicted to migrate to the cloud by 2025 (i). Stuart Hardy In South Africa, businesses are swiftly embracing cloud computing too. And what’s spurring this on even more has been the deployment of local cloud data centres by the likes of Microsoft, Amazon and Huawei.
Liderando a experiência
Seria “Centralidade no Cliente”, então?
Perfect Alchemy: Tech, Creativity And The Future Of Work

Photocredit: GettyGetty By Stuart Hardy Work is changing – driven by global paradigm shifts, new talent architecture and cognitive tools. As robotics, AI, digital nomads and prosumers grow, jobs are being re-imagined, creating an “augmented workforce.” It is vital that as this complex roadmap plays out, we consider the jobs of the future.

A lista é longa e impactante.

How prepared is your network?
The office or enterprise network may well be handling business needs right now. It may even appear to be future-proofed in some way, perhaps through the incorporation of mobile or cloud-based services. The business has, no doubt, planned for the projected human resource growth and the IT function has a plan in place to deal with additional demands this will place on the company's IT infrastructure and network.
Disruptive tech drives optimisation
As businesses move more of their applications and services to the cloud, they experience a drop in end-user experience due to higher latency. A similar problem exists at WAN level, where global companies centralise application delivery and experience application access problems at remote branches. As global cloud infrastructures and software as a service models begin to dominate, this is catalysing the revival of network optimisation.
Encrypting data in the cloud
The widespread adoption of cloud applications in the enterprise has come hand-in-hand with security issues as well as concerns around regulations and compliance. Cloud computing shares resources that were previously never shared, bringing with it new problems that need new security practices to solve. Although data security is a top concern, effective data protection and strong encryption in the cloud is possible and available through a number of providers.
Where's NaaS? | ITWeb
Networking as a service can be offered in exactly the same way as the other "as a service" offerings, like software as a service (SaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). However, the current industry situation in SA is that NaaS implementation is being held back by the requirement for long-term connectivity contracts to enable it. It's clear this situation needs to change if SA is to see true NaaS roll-out.
Disruptive technologies drive need for network optimisation
As businesses move more and more of their applications and services to the cloud – often in data centres in locations removed from their premises – they experience a drop in end-user experience due to higher latency. A similar problem exists at a WAN level where global companies centralise application delivery and experience application access problems in branches that are far away.
NaaS scores a try
Networking as a service (NaaS) describes a range of capabilities in the networking space. For the purposes of this Industry Insight, I'd like to focus on NaaS only in relation to wide area networks or VPNs, and on providing NaaS in the domestic South African market as well as in the global network context.
The network of the future
In my last Industry Insight, I looked at how MPLS is dead as a result of users consuming all business applications from a cloud infrastructure or software as a service platform. The technology that will change the status quo will be software-defined WANs (SD WANs). It makes a lot of sense to want to use the Internet as an access medium to a new future network. In domestic networks, the quality is good, cost is low, and it offers considerably more bandwidth.
MPLS is dead. Long live MPLS
If you are like me, then you believe there is a change coming that will forever alter the way networks are seen and used, especially multiprotocol label switching (MPLS). The basis of this belief is that at some point in the near future, users will consume all business applications from some cloud infrastructure or software as a service platform. And in this world, traditional MPLS networks are complex, expensive and inflexible. Dead.
CDNs fail in enterprise applications
The growth of Internet-based business and communications services has increased the need for speed, accuracy and availability in network-delivered content. While proxy servers have been useful in assisting rapid content delivery, content delivery networks (CDNs) have provided the missing link, providing overlay networks that offer high-performance delivery.
The latency dilemma
In almost every conversation I have had regarding overcoming the issue that latency causes in global application delivery, I have been met with cynicism and outright disbelief that there is a solution for such a problem. Yet, by the end of each conversation, the opposite is true.
