General Officers Love Liberal Publications
Mattis is famous for failing forward while simultaneously selling himself as a great military strategist. We were all so desperate for a leader, we let him fool US. He was unable to critically think and challenge a system desperately needing reform because he derived his validation from that very system. It mirrored his inability to challenge the counter-insurgency beliefs he spewed for years, despite overwhelming evidence of the strategy’s shortcomings.
I Was Selected for a DoD Position Serving the President
I accepted the position of Senior Advisor to the DoD Under Secretary in personnel and readiness. The military’s people and readiness are my passion. The SecDef will outline a focus on culture, structure, posture, and equipping across the force, but I am sure the national security situation left by the incompetence of the last administration will monopolize his time. Concurrently, service leadership will focus on prioritizing realignment of resources and priorities within their respective services.
NeXt Secretary of Defense
The American military tolerates failure, bleeds talent, and wastes resources at an unsustainable rate. Opinions aside, the military’s resume speaks for itself. True Defense Department visionaries must form a consensus on how to reform the last great American institution.

Quotes of the Day: “Withholding information is the essence of tyranny. Control of the flow of information is the tool of the dictatorship.” – Bruce Coville “Few minds are spacious; few even have an empty place in them or can offer some vacant point. Almost all have narrow capacities and are filled by some knowledge that blocks them up.

Typically, that General is Removed
Do general officers have an obligation to publicly tell the truth? I have an interesting perspective on this question. Currently, the Marine Corps teaches my story at the E-8 seminar (senior enlisted school). If you remember, I was the Marine officer who, via video, made a plea for accountability from military leaders who purposely abandoned Bagram airbase, American citizens and American military sacrifices.

Quotes of the Day: "The time will come when diligent research over long periods will bring to light things which now lie hidden… Many discoveries are reserved for ages still to come, when memory of us will have been effaced." – Seneca "They follow the Hitler line - no matter how big the lie; repeat it often enough and the masses will regard it as truth." – John F. Kennedy "I’m telling you a lie in a vicious effort that you will repeat my lie over and over until it becomes true." – Lady Gaga 1.
Can America, And Its Veterans, Find Their Purpose?
John Waters’ novel River City One is about navigating life’s expectations following wartime combat experiences. While the story is fiction, it’s told by a Marine veteran of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. The book’s detail will undoubtedly resonate with the current GWOT (Global War on Terror) generation.
Now elites want to completely censor U.S. military members
By Stuart Scheller Real Clear Wire As the 2024 presidential election approaches, an effort to censor young military members on social media is gaining support from a small, misguided and elitist group. Reference the recent War on the Rocks article titled: “It’s Time to Revise Guidance on Political Activities for Members of the U.S. Military.” The writers are validated and approved to communicate their opinion because they achieved the 0-6 military rank.

Our Rotten Military Promotion System
A Marine sniper serving during the Afghanistan evacuation recently gave testimony to the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the Afghanistan evacuation. His pain was palpable. A revelation worth examining was his identification of the possible suicide bomber prior to the incident. After the sniper, Sgt Vargas-Andrews, confirmed the target with multiple agencies, he asked his Battalion Commander, LtCol Whited, for permission to shoot.

Sport teams ironically illustrate what the military has forgotten: The best players always should be selected from a diverse population after a performance-based selection process. The NFL’s combine is a great example. While it doesn’t always predict the best performers, it’s hard to imagine the NFL only picking players based on subjective recommendations from college coaches or external needs for inclusion.

The former lieutenant colonel’s upcoming book shows the high price of bad leadership. by KELLEY BEAUCAR VLAHOS Crisis of Command: How We Lost Trust and Confidence in America’s Generals and Politicians By Stuart Scheller (Knox Press, 272 pages, $28) “He was following the orders he was given.” At this point, former Lt. America Needs Leaders With Fresh Eyes
Americans searching for leaders will find hope in a new generation of veterans shaped by service during the Global War on Terror (GWOT). Those who led, bled, and carried dead in America’s foreign wars understand what’s best about this nation and how to preserve it. I served in combat commands in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I have no doubt that America will find its future leaders among the talented young officers with whom I served.
