Introduction Thermal buoyancy natural convection in non-Newtonian fluids plays a significant role in numerous process industries including polymer, chemical, biochemical, biomedical, agricultural, food, pharmaceutical, and beverage. Various viscoplastic fluids reveal shear-thinning or shear-thickening behavior under a certain range of shear-rate and thermal processing of those fluids are frequently accompanied by free convection.

Natural convection heat transfer from horizontal solid cylinders has been studied numerically by varying the Rayleigh number in the range of and for both laminar and turbulent flows, respectively. The computations were carried out for three different geometries of three, six, and ten cylinders in a stack arranged in a triangular manner having same characteristic length scale.
