1. Introduction Finite mixture distributions are widely used in medical, engineering and scientific applications to model heterogeneous data more effectively. In these situations, the population may consist of components, each potentially following a different distribution or the same distribution but with different parameters. This results in a mixture of components, where each component has its own unique probability density function (pdf).
