Sustainable water treatment: FeCl3-modified rice husk for cyanide and chromium adsorption

ABSTRACT India, being an agricultural country, generates a substantial amount of rice husk, a resource that remains vastly underutilised. In this study, rice husk is converted into an affordable adsorbent to remove hazardous ions like cyanide and hexavalent chromium from water. The rice husk is treated with sodium hydroxide to eliminate its silica layer, and its adsorption capacity is compared with that of ferric chloride-impregnated rice husk.
