Compact thin-film lithium niobate dual-stage intensity modulator with ultrahigh linearity
The linearity of modulators fundamentally determines the critical performance of microwave-to-optical signal conversion in photonic systems. This work presents a compact dual-stage cascaded intensity modulator based on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN), which overcomes the linearity constraints of conventional Mach–Zehnder modulators (MZMs) through an innovative two-stage architecture.
Analysis of a photonics-assisted multi-path interference cancellation system based on the combination of the digital domain and analog domain
In this paper, a photonics-assisted multi-path interference (MI) cancellation system based on the combination of the digital domain and analog domain is proposed and demonstrated. The cancellation in the photonics-assisted analog domain avoids oversaturation of the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) signal at the input while the adaptive feedback control in the digital domain can also compensate for the optical path’s undesirable factors, thus making MI cancellation in the best state all the time.

Synthesis of hydrogel microspheres with tunable pore size and their application in alkaline protease immobilization
Synthesis of hydrogel microspheres with tunable pore size and their application in alkaline protease immobilization Hydrogels, as the carrier of immobilized enzyme, are beneficial to the aqueous phase catalysis of enzymes, and have attracted extensive attention in maintaining enzymatic activity and improving stability. However, its network structure is relatively large and low molecular weight enzyme is prone to leakage, which affects the catalytic performance of enzymes.
Lipase/tannic acid magnetic hydrogel microspheres and its continuous catalytic application
Lipase/tannic acid magnetic hydrogel microspheres and its continuous catalytic application The immobilization of enzyme by covalent bond usually uses toxic chemicals, which not only reduces the enzyme activity, but also is not conducive to its application in the food field. In this work, the surface of magnetic hydrogel microspheres was modified with tannic acid, which was oxidized into quinone, and then covalently linked to the lipase through Schiff base reaction.

A high-performance topological bulk laser based on band-inversion-induced reflection
Abstract Topological insulators are materials that behave as insulators in the bulk and as conductors at the edge or surface due to the particular configuration of their bulk band dispersion. However, up to date possible practical applications of this band topology on materials’ bulk properties have remained abstract. Here, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a topological bulk laser.
Unusual scaling laws for plasmonic nanolasers beyond the diffraction limit
Abstract Plasmonic nanolasers are a new class of amplifiers that generate coherent light well below the diffraction barrier bringing fundamentally new capabilities to biochemical sensing, super-resolution imaging, and on-chip optical communication. However, a debate about whether metals can enhance the performance of lasers has persisted due to the unavoidable fact that metallic absorption intrinsically scales with field confinement.
Imaging the dark emission of spasers
Spasers are a new class of laser devices with cavity sizes free from optical diffraction limit. They are an emergent tool for various applications, including biochemical sensing, superresolution imaging, and on-chip optical communication. According to its original definition, a spaser is a coherent surface plasmon amplifier that does not necessarily generate a radiative photon output.
