The risky work environment at social venues is influenced by specific rules and procedures in these venues. However, it is unclear whether these rules and procedures are in alignment with national regulations. This study is the first to examine the regulatory compliance gaps between existing national legislation and the unwritten rules governing social venues in Uganda. It reveals minimal adherence to national regulations on workplace safety and health by these venues.

Venue clusters We conducted a cluster analysis with 18 venue characteristics (variables) to obtain the venue clusters in this study. The 18 venue characteristics included those relating to type of activities at the venue and type of populations at the venue (table 2). These characteristics were chosen because of their importance in describing venue features.
