Over the 2026 4th of July weekend, we saw Frenchman Sam Laidlow shatter the previous world record for men's iron-distance triathlon Challenge Roth, setting off triathlon's favorite question that still doesn't have a clear answer: What exactly is the record? If we’re talking about the fastest Ironman time, the answer isn't Laidlow's 7:21:04 for men or 8:02:38 for women (set by Germany's Anne Haug at Roth 2024), because those are iron-distance world records.

Tennessee will once again welcome the world’s top triathletes for the 2027 Ironman 70.3 World Championship, marking a return to the site of the event’s historic first two-day race format. Triathletes, pack your bags: we’re heading to Tennessee. The Ironman Group announced today that Chattanooga has been selected as the host city for the 2027 70.3 World Championship triathlon on August 28 and 29, 2027.
