Susan Deveney’s Biography
Susan Deveney is an esteemed conflict resolution and mediation expert and a recognized leader in professional education and training. She is the Chief Executive and Head Instructor at Conflict Resolution Training Inc. (CRT), headquartered in Boston, MA. Under her leadership, CRT provides innovative professional development and continuing education programs that enhance communication and dispute-resolution skills for professionals and organizations throughout the United States.
Raised in Boston, Massachusetts, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut, achieving summa cum laude honors in Political Science and Psychology. She was also inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and received the Dana Scholar Award for Academic Excellence. She pursued further education at Suffolk University Law School in Boston, where she obtained her Juris Doctor degree.
Since founding CRT in 2010, she and her team have delivered training, certification, and bespoke professional development programs that focus on essential skills such as emotional and social intelligence, empathy, mindfulness, diversity, and inclusion. Under her direction, CRT has successfully trained thousands of professionals across the United States and internationally, servicing a broad array of clients, including corporations, nonprofits, and Native American tribes.
Before concentrating fully on CRT, she managed her own legal and mediation practice from 2001 to 2016. In this practice, she developed and implemented legal strategies in areas such as disability law, family and business disputes, and employment law. Her practice was dedicated to helping clients navigate legal challenges and achieve amicable resolutions through mediation.
Her expertise in mediation encompasses divorce and family mediation, particular education mediation, and workplace conflict resolution. She has developed numerous training programs that encourage litigation prevention and effective conflict resolution across various sectors, including education, business, and elder care. She also provides HR consulting services to enhance employee relations and workplace culture.
Her contributions to the community are significant. She has secured grants for conflict resolution programs for children, volunteered as an ESL tutor, and actively supported legislative initiatives that promote the social and economic welfare of children and communities.
Recently, she launched the first-ever nationwide Special Education Mediation Workshop, designed to assist parents and school districts in resolving disputes related to Individualized Education Plans. She is also preparing to launch an Elder Care Facilitation Workshop to help caregivers develop comprehensive life plans for seniors.
Susan Deveney continues to share her expertise through writing and speaking engagements, offering practical strategies for conflict management. She enjoys playing tennis, swimming, and writing and maintains an active and balanced lifestyle.
