WESTFORD CENTER – Dozens of floats lined Westford’s Main Street on Saturday for the town’s 57th annual Apple Blossom Parade. Hosted by the Westford Kiwanis Club, the parade featured appearances by dozens of groups from around town. The Westford Police Department Honor Guard and police cruisers led this year’s parade, which featured long-time Westford resident Marilyn Frank as the 2026 Kiwanis Person of the Year. Westford road closed down following ‘significant infrastructure failure’

WESTFORD CENTER — Tadmuck Lane was closed down to all through traffic on Monday, after Westford Public Works discovered a large hole in the road. According to a statement from Public Works, the emergency road closure was initiated Monday afternoon, after the road was determined to be unsafe for traffic. Upon initial inspection, crews determined that a five foot wide corrugated metal culvert carrying Tadmuck Brook under Tadmuck Lane had failed, causing the large hole to form in the pavement.

WESTFORD CENTER — Westford firefighters officially have a new contract, following the ratification of a contract agreement between town officials and the firefighters’ union, the union announced on Friday. “We are proud to share that the Westford Firefighters have officially reached a new contract agreement with the Town of Westford,” the Local 3126 of the International Association of Fire Fighters union said in a statement on social media.

WESTFORD CENTER — Several key races were on the ballot during Westford’s annual town election, which was held on Tuesday, May 5. Polls opened at 7 a.m. and stayed open until 8 p.m., with voting taking place at two locations. Residents in precincts one, three, four, and seven cast their ballots at Westford Academy, while voters in precincts two, five, and six headed to the Stony Brook School. Voters had the opportunity to vote on multiple open seats on the Select Board.

Police first learned about the scam on April 1, which they said targets drivers with messages claiming they owe money for unpaid parking tickets or toll violations. Police said victims may receive links,QR codes, or official-looking documents designed to mimic legitimate court paperwork.

The congresswoman’s tour took place just weeks after a 14-year-old was detained by federal immigration officials in her district and marked her first visit to the facility since President Donald Trump took office last year. WESTFORD — A person was hospitalized following a two-car crash on a busy Westford roadway Tuesday afternoon, which badly damaged two vehicles and a utility pole. Westford police and firefighters, along with Groton firefighters, responded to the crash around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, which occurred on Groton Road (Route 40) between Dunstable Road and Nutting Road. According to Westford public safety dispatchers, one person was injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital.

The high wind warning was issued around 5 p.m. Monday while the flood watch was issued around 3 p.m. Both are effective until 6 a.m. Tuesday. According to the NWS, southerly winds between 20 and 30 mph are expected on Monday, with gust up 65 mph possible.

In a statement issued by Trahan on Wednesday evening, the congresswoman said a federal judge issued an order to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Wednesday, which said the 14-year-old girl must be returned to Massachusetts and reunited with her family.

Two-car crash shuts down busy Westford intersection

WESTFORD – Oak Hill Road between Groton Road and Forrest Road was shut down Tuesday evening following a two-car crash at the intersection of Groton Road and Oak Hill Road. The Westford Police and Fire Department respond responded to the crash shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters have not yet confirmed any injuries, but WestfordCAT observed an ambulance at the scene and saw EMTs lifting one of the people involved onto a stretcher.

The Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife recently announced that this time of year is peak mating season for coyotes, meaning that the likelihood to encounter a coyote is higher than average.
