Global bridge failure statistics indicate that hydraulic actions, particularly hydrodynamic forces and scour, play major roles in bridge failure during floods. The scenario is specifically critical for ageing bridges in harsh environments. Because of continuous exposure to such environments, RC bridges with time become more susceptible to load demands during flood events. Hence, appropriate retrofit strategies are essential that can be implemented at any instance during service lives of bridges.

With ever-increasing consumer demand, the food and pharmaceutical industries are in dire need of innovative platforms to track the quality and freshness of their products to ensure safety as well as to minimize waste. Intelligent sensors integrated in the packages of food or pharmaceutical products can report the levels of crucial parameters like pH or humidity and can therefore be used to monitor the quality of packaged food or pharmaceutical items.

Abstract Overloading from overweight vehicles poses significant threat to bridges. The coupled interaction of overloading-induced fatigue and chloride-induced corrosion causes corrosion-fatigue degradation of bridges and severely affects bridge safety, long-term performance, and service lives. Pertaining to this, the current research explores the combined effect of corrosion and overloading-induced fatigue on the life-cycle performance of a RC T-girder bridge.
