As Christmas approaches my mind is once again flooded with memories of childhood and the magic of the holiday season. I consider myself blessed that I grew up in both Manhattan and Detroit. In the early 60's, going to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was a yearly event. So was a visit to Rockefeller Center to see the huge Christmas tree. And how, I wondered, in downtown New York City, was Santa Claus on nearly every other corner?
