Neil Landino Tony Chauveaux, a former chairman of the Texas Commission on the Arts, has been tapped as next executive director for the McFaddin-Ward House. “What a pleasure it is to return to Beaumont and join the McFaddin-Ward Museum,” Chauveaux said in a release.

Let’s play: Children’s museum reopens

The Beaumont Children’s Museum, closed since mid-March because of the coronavirus, is opening its doors Thursday morning to the public. Amanda Yarbrough, the museum’s executive director, calls the reopening a “blessing” for her and a staff eager to get back to getting children excited about learning.

Brazos Bend State Park This 4,897-acre landscape encompasses three ecosystems. Explore a prairie, a marsh and a hardwood forest — all in a single afternoon. But keep an eye out for alligators; the park is full of the toothy reptiles. Be particularly vigilant if you visit with a pet.
