State not responsible for sinkhole, SD Supreme Court says Original

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — More than six years after a large sinkhole opened up in western KELOLAND, the South Dakota Supreme Court has reached a decision. Homeowners in the neighborhood, which was previously used for mining, sued the state after the sinkhole appeared. Underneath the Hideaway Hills neighborhood in Black Hawk is a gypsum mine that was last used in the 1940’s. Decades later, and after many changes in ownership, a sinkhole claimed one homeowner’s yard and a portion of the street.

Voters change registration ahead of runoff

CANTON, S.D. (KELO) — Republicans will head to the polls again later this month for the primary runoff election between current Governor Larry Rhoden and Aberdeen businessman Toby Doeden. For some voters, this is a time to change their registration to Republican to have a say in which candidate will be on the ballot in November. It is two weeks ahead of the Republican primary runoff. As that date approaches, the Lincoln County auditor is expecting more voters to come in.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Faith Temple Food Giveaway has been helping families in the Sioux Falls area for years. A large donation will help feed a different kind of family member. Over eight thousand pounds of pet food were loaded up at Mini Critters, ready to be donated to families in need.
