What was your first job as a journalist?
I was a news writer for The Wheaton Wire, a college newspaper at Wheaton College MA.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I have only used a typewriter that no longer worked.
How is social media changing news?
Today, constantly developing media takes a step above its current state by rethinking its idea of normality.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Social impact, healthcare and community engagement are my three priorities as I am journalistically building connections between societies through research and immersion in contrasting cultures.

I use computer programing languages such as HTML and Python to develop web pages. I use Colaboratory and Glitch to create data visualizations

Why did you become a journalist?
While living abroad as an exchange student in Belgium, serving a medical fellowship in Serbia, studying at Universität Regensburg in Germany, and volunteering with Rotary International in Mexico, I experienced the stress doctors feel, the importance of global education and the impact journalism and healthcare can have on surrounding communities.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I wrote stories for the high school yearbook.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Covering the NASA Ingenuity Mars helicopter’s first attempt at powered, controlled flight on another planet.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
I believe that we can expand our practices and expand our range of storytelling by taking more opportunities to learn from and empower each other.

There are just so many good pitches, it is challenging to narrow it down to just one.

Any pitch that lacks an impactful storyline and powerful meaning to readers.

I enjoy coffee with a dash of almond milk.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Through traveling, listening and storytelling, I have challenged preconceived notions about the people and the places I have lived.

I enjoy reading The New York Times
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
I believe that accessibility to science news is vital for today’s current societies to properly respond to crises and discoveries that affect the quality of healthcare and ultimately our survival.
