ABSTRACT Introduction Acromegaly is a rare systemic disorder caused by an excess of growth hormone. Since surgical resection of the underlying tumor is not always successful, pharmacotherapy plays an invaluable role in managing this condition. While current treatment options are generally effective and well-tolerated, there remains significant room for improvement.

Abstract : We report the case of a 49-year-old male who suffered from a myocardial infarction with subsequent cardiac arrest. The emergency medical team began cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including defibrillation of ventricular fibrillation. Although a return of spontaneous circulation was achieved after approximately 30 min of continued efforts, the patient went back into cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital and resuscitation had to be resumed.

Introduction Acromegaly is a rare chronic progressive disease associated with multiple comorbidities and increased mortality. It is mainly caused by anterior pituitary tumours that secrete excessive amount of growth hormone (GH), resulting in overproduction of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) (1). Long-term presence of elevated GH and IGF-1 levels, accompanying this disease, is associated with multiple complications, such as osteopathy, tissue hypertrophy and metabolic disorders.
