Reviewing "Frankenstein's Evil Eye" (Frankenstein Unbound) for Dread Central.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. Before I got my first PC that wasn't a C64, I used a typewriter to write my papers, create stories, and to manifest scripts.
How is social media changing news?
On the positive side, it allows for faster discovery of facts. On the negative, people are readily using emotion to call to arms.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
If we're talking a fictional persona adapted by a real journalist, it would be Raoul Duke.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
We are the presenters of fact. Journalism is not activism. We are there to elevate and illuminate a subject.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Word, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Vegas, VSDC, and Audacity.
Why did you become a journalist?
Many years ago I came to the realization that facts were the only thing that mattered when it came to the news.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The ICD-11 story I wrote with an interview with Platinum Paragon discussing the impact on labeling gaming addiction as a mental illness.
When's the best time to pitch you?
In the morning. I sometimes get pitches at midnight or 2AM, and those just get buried by the morning rush.
What's your favorite drink?
Coke Zero Vanilla.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
With my wife and daughter.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
The most common issue I experience is the assumption that all entertainment journalists have the same view on politics.
