Six Flags Magic Mountain unveils this year’s gruesome lineup for Fright Fest, featuring legendary horror franchises at this highly anticipated annual event. Nightmares come to life with guests trying to survive their predetermined fate in Final Destination: Death’s Playground, facing off with the evils lurking in the Warren’s Occult Museum as they make their way through The Conjuring Universe and test their bravery as they enter the world of Trick ‘r Treat. Beginning Sept. 18 through Nov.

Mark McKenna (Overlord) and Stephen Lang (Don’t Breathe) lead the indie thriller Isolation Booth, which recently wrapped filming in Minnesota, reports Deadline. The psychological thriller follows a once-celebrated songwriter battling addiction as he retreats to a secluded studio for one last chance at relevance. When there, an enigmatic producer helps to complete the song at any cost. Rounding out the cast are Cory Jeacoma, Micah Joe Parker, Isa Grofsorean, and introducing Meghan Kreidler.

Well, this is a pretty perfect pairing. Marvel is getting ready to launch its new horror-soaked Midnight Universe this October, and one of the newly revealed variant covers for Midnight Fantastic Four #1 pays homage to one of the greatest horror movies ever made: John Carpenter’s The Thing. The artwork comes from E.M. Gist and is officially designated Cover D, the “Midnight Horror Homage Variant.” Marvel describes this particular line of covers as being inspired by classic horror imagery.

Man is the warmest place to hide, but apparently it also makes for some pretty fucking cool clothes. Rucking Fotten is heading straight to Outpost 31 for ANTARCTICA ’82, a new limited-edition capsule inspired by John Carpenter’s The Thing, and there’s a whole lot here I suddenly need in my closet. The collection has officially dropped, and as with Rucking Fotten’s other timed drops, you have just 72 hours, with pre-orders closing Sunday, August 16.

The new poster for Fall 2: Deadpoint, Lionsgate’s high-stakes survival thriller, hangs on for dear life. In the film: “Overwhelmed by her sister Hunter’s death, Jax (Harriet Slater) connects with Luce (Arsema Thomas), Hunter’s fearless friend. To heal, they attempt the infamous plank walk of Mount Kwan in Thailand.

At this point, there’s been all sorts of speculation over who will take on the role of Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino‘s planned adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis‘ 1991 novel. Especially after it was reported that various high-profile actors have turned it down. Yet one name that has come up a few times now is Drew Starkey (pictured above in David Bruckner’s Hellraiser). The actor isn’t helping to calm the fire behind the smoke, either.

One of the most striking aspects of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is the opening scene, flush with horror merch. As Jane Schoenbrun’s satirical slasher takes hold, you can now own a piece of cinematic history, thanks to Mutant. The collectible company has the limited-edition horror movie merchandise game on lock lately. For example, Mutant released an exclusive Leviticus soundtrack vinyl, with a red smoke record and illustrated cover art by Sachin Teng.

Bruce Campbell may not be in the last few Evil Dead films (minus that brief cameo in Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead), but he’s still now and always will be the face of the franchise. Campbell has been with the deadites since the beginning, starring in three films and the Ash vs. Evil Dead Starz series. Behind the scenes, he’s acted as a producer alongside creator Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. What he says about Evil Dead matters.

Actor Skeet Ulrich (pictured above in Scream) has a certain charm that makes him difficult to resist. Just ask Sidney Prescott. He’s the kind of guy you might imagine following anywhere. So, it makes sense that he’s been cast as a cult leader in the indie horror flick Deify, reports Deadline. Also cast in the film is Neal McDonough (Ravenous).
