African women must anticipate that Trump's return will re-ignite an ideological war with real and physical consequences on the bodies of African women. The US presidential election is less than three months away and shots have been fired, literally. Those of us who previously believed that the countless integrity issues and pile of court cases plaguing Donald Trump would stop his candidacy now marvel at the man's determination and sheer lack of embarrassment.

After the August elections, anti-rights groups started to clamour for the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to revive the 2019 National Policy on Family Promotion and Protection, which was drafted by an isolated handful of individuals and was devoid of public participation. This draft was not signed into policy and so never implemented.
