Discussion The first case of COVID-19 patient was reported in Japan in January 2020, and the number of patients has increased slowly. Initially, people did not wear masks as strictly as they do now.13 Later, people were encouraged by the government to wear masks, but due to the shortage of masks, they were not worn in large numbers until around June 2020.
