Abstract For nanoscale X-ray imaging, scanning-based techniques are widely used, but the scanning process often becomes a bottleneck for measurement speed. Scanless, single-shot imaging provides a promising approach to drastically reduce acquisition time. However, achieving both a large field of view and high spatial resolution without scanning remains a significant challenge.

Abstract Optical-domain transient grating (TG) spectroscopy is the ideal tool to investigate transport phenomena in gases, liquids and solids, but it is limited to typically micron-size grating periods. Extreme-Ultraviolet TG has represented a major leap forward to access the mesoscopic scales. Hard X-ray TGs open access in principle to the nanoscale.

Abstract Since the invention of the laser, nonlinear effects such as filamentation1, Rabi cycling2,3 and collective emission4 have been explored in the optical regime, leading to a wide range of scientific and industrial applications5,6,7,8. X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs) have extended many optical techniques to X-rays for their advantages of ångström-scale spatial resolution and elemental specificity9.
