3.3. Population-Play Another population-based method for multi-agent systems is population-play (PP), which builds upon the concept of SP to involve multiple players and their past generations [5,35], as shown in Figure 3. With PP, a group of agents is developed and trained to compete not only with each other but also with agents from prior generations. To train an exceptional agent, AlphaStar [5] maintains three types of opponent pools: Main Agents, League Exploiters, and Main Exploiters.
