Introduction Sugammadex is a modified gamma cyclodextrin that forms complexes with aminosteroid neuromuscular blocking drugs [1, 2]. Exploratory experiments by Merck Sharp & Dohme (Oss, the Netherlands), the original manufacturer of sugammadex, showed an affinity between sugammadex and other steroidal molecules, such as progestogens, which may have clinical implications in everyday use [1, 3, 4].
